175° East’s three houses are set out on a sprawling north facing 14 acres of native New Zealand bush, with ocean views and interweaving walkways.

Each house has its own private and unique setting, close enough to enjoy the beautiful beaches and far enough away for you to escape into your own world, where you have all the ingredients to relax with maximum comfort.

Our houses are all within a few hundred metres walk, joined by bush, pathways and grass, carefully located to allow for privacy and space in each.

Ruru House – 3 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Sleeps 4 + 3

Ruru House is a contemporary open plan design comprising kitchen, dining, lounge area, three bedrooms, set into the north facing ridge full of manuka and kanuka, directly behind Medlands Beach this is ultimate luxury accommodation.
The house has lovely timber floors with bedrooms at each end. The living and dining area is connected to front and back deck making the most of the eastly seaview and views west into the mountains. The rural setting with sea views makes this location truly a slice of paradise.
One of the bedrooms has large ensuite, with the other two bedrooms next to a large wet room bathroom. The house has walk around decks to the front and a secluded deck and lawn for intimate bbq’s to the rear. All Parts of the house are open to you.
A fireplace sets the perfect environment to relax in the colder months, with comfortable chairs and couch to lounge in along with a large outdoor shower which greets you from the beach after a session in water. Washing machine, dryer and Wifi, a smart TV and Sonus sound system are all available for guest use.
The name Ruru is inspired by the Ruru (Morepork) that frequent the property and often can be seen catching the Green Puriri moth off the front deck!

Pitokuku House 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms. Sleeps 4 + 2

Pitokuku House is a 2021 built home, nestled into the bush. This house focuses on maximum relaxation. The house is beautifully finished with timber floors, floor to ceiling windows front and back that drink in the view, a large kitchen and expansive open plan living area. There is also a WC outside if you wanted to bring the kids to camp!
The sprawling decks connect with generous inside spaces that have everything you need! A well thought out kitchen, beer and wine fridge, a nook (that sleeps two extras) and escapes to the two generously sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large ensuite, the second bathroom is alongside the second bedroom. The third is a toilet and vanity accessed from the outside deck.
This property is in perfect harmony with its landscape. During winter months, reap the benefits of the cosy inside and outside fireplaces along with the all seasons covered rear deck. After a day spent in the magnificent outdoors, unwind and rejuvenate. The Pitokuku House is set up for a long stay with washing machine, full wifi, Smart TV and Sonos sound system.
The name Pitokuku is inspired by Pitokuku Island, which can see from the deck of the house which is directly behind the Sugarloaf headland – Due North.

Tree House 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom. Sleeps 6 + 2

The Tree house is a contemporary open plan design comprising of a kitchen, lounge area, two bedrooms and a bunk house set in the native trees, immersed in nature. With wrap around covered decks, the Tree House is a special place to socialise and relax.

The bathroom and distinct red bathtub opens into a t-tree canopy for that relaxing end of day soak. The kitchen, living, main bedroom and outside space is joined by a deck and bridge to a bunk house with a queen room and four bunks. Full Wifi, and Sonos sound system are available for guests.
